Notes on Tony Gonzalez, Vontae Davis, and more
Apr 23rd, 2009 | By Pete Dymeck | Category: From the SidelinesWell, my final mock draft of the 2009 season took a serious hit just hours ago when the Kansas City Chiefs agreed to trade future hall of fame TE Tony Gonzalez to the Atlanta Falcons. We expected this trade to happen but did not think it would go through until draft day. Regardless, young QB Matt Ryan and company should be pleased to hear the news.

We have reported this before but the Cleveland Browns are showing a keen interest in former Kent State QB Julian Edelman. While we think Edelman will not get drafted, the Browns will be calling him immediately after the draft finishes to ink him to a priviledged free agent deal. Edelman is drawing interest as a wide-out.
Former Duke hoops star Greg Paulus is likely to play college football at Syracuse.
We are receiving contradictory reports on former Illinois cornerback Vontae Davis. Amidst his questionable character, some teams feel as if Davis is more of a free safety than cornerback. We are down on Davis and believe that he is a boom or bust prospect.
Whether or not the New York Giants have a deal in place for disgruntled Cleveland WR Braylon Edwards, it is looking very unlikely that the former Michigan star will play for Cleveland in 2009. One insider thinks that the Baltimore Ravens are a quiet contender for Edwards’ service.
