Dexter Davis Interview
By: Scott Porter
February 17, 2010
Scott Porter:: What are your biggest strengths?
Dexter Davis: I'm an extremely hard-worker and I have an intense passion for the game. I do a good job of getting after the quarterback and I'm also physical in the run game, but most importantly I go hard every play.

Scott Porter:: What is your favorite memory while at Arizona State?
Dexter Davis: Winning the Pac-10 in 2007 was hands down my greatest memory. The last game of that season was against our rivals, Arizona, and we pulled it out late to claim the title. The student section stormed the field and that is something I will always carry with me.

Scott Porter:: What goals do you have for the NFL?
Dexter Davis: My goal right now is preparing myself so that I can go as high in the draft as possible. Once I'm with a team I want to gain as much knowledge as possible so that I can contribute right away. I'd like to have a long playing career where I'm able to win a championship and make it to the Pro Bowl along the way.

Scott Porter:: What player in the NFL most reminds you of yourself?
Dexter Davis: One player that I am a big fan of is Dwight Freeney. He plays with tremendous tenacity and effort, and he is recognized as one of the most feared defenders in the league which is something I aspire to be.

Scott Porter:: What hobbies do you have off the field?
Dexter Davis: I'm really big on spending time with my family. I have a two-year-old son named Andrei and being around him and the rest of my family is the greatest thing for me. I also enjoy weight-lifting and I'm really into music.

Scott Porter:: How would you describe your style of play?
Dexter Davis: Relentless. One of the most important things I have learned over the course of my playing career is that when you play hard good things are bound to happen and that is one of the major reasons I am in the position I am in right now. "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog!"

Scott Porter:: What will you be doing from now until draft time to prepare for the NFL?
Dexter Davis: .I've been training at Athletes Performance in Phoenix. My training consists of speed, strength, and position specific drills.

Scott Porter:: What are you looking forward to most about your shot at the NFL?
Dexter Davis: The opportunity to play the game I love at the highest level. I want to be the best and to do that I have to compete with the best. On top of that being able to support my family financially is a big motivator for me.

(September 21, GBNReport.com) -- Virginia Tech redshirt sophomore RB Ryan Williams is questionable at best for Saturdays conference opener against Boston College after he injured a hamstring in last weekends win over East Carolina. The injury is not believed to be serious even though Williams had to be helped off the field and spent the second half on crutches, however, he has practiced on a limited basis this week.
