Full Circle: Busted! Edition
We are finally back here at Sideline Scouting after a week hiatus. In order to get over a case of being burned out, we are back, fresh with our “Busted!” edition of Full Circle.
In case you missed the feature on our home page, former Wisconsin running back P.J. Hill was busted with drunk driving after leading police on a chase. This is bad news for a former freshman phenom that already had to deal with plummeting NFL stock. Prior to this news break, Hill was at best a fifth round prospect. Now, it is almost certain that he will go undrafted.
Also, former Ohio State offensive tackle Alex Boone has had to answer plenty of questions about his arrest not too long ago. Boone entered 2008 as one of the better prospects at his position but succumbed to a senior season which failed to impress scouts nationally. He will likely get drafted in the middle to late rounds.
Mr. Do-it-all from Cincinnati, Connor Barwin, is drawing a lot of interest from many NFL teams. After working out for the Patriots, Bills, Dolphins, and Seahawks, Barwin is expected to work out for the Broncos, Jaguars, and Falcons. Seattle may also schedule a second workout for this former Bearcat.
The Jacksonville Jaguars need a wide receiver since they released their best weapon at that position, Matt Jones. Jones has been blitzed with off-the-field issues, stemming from his arrest on drug charges to drinking a beer while on probation. Certainly, Michael Crabtree or Jeremy Maclin will fall into their laps.
Andre Smith, you know, the highly talked about guy from Alabama that looks like the “Stay Puft” Marshmallow Man, is clearing seeing his stock fall. While you may think that the above is an unfair statement, we want to remind everyone that Smith had the world in his hands by just maintaining his weight and condition. If he had done so, he would have been a top three pick. Now, he should be grateful if he is drafted before the clock expires on the first round.
